League Tryouts

Do you have what it takes to be a B.A.D. Girl?

Then sign up for B.A.D.’s tryouts September 19 and 20, 2015! We are looking for women 18 and older interested in becoming members of the Bay Area Derby Girls.

Not for the faint of heart, Roller Derby is a hard hitting full-contact sport. In order to participate you must have a strong ability to balance/roll/skate/stop with no outside assistance; be able to stay active for up to 2 hours at a time; and exert yourself physically and mentally throughout each session.

We are looking for experienced skaters – if you have little to no skating experience and did not attend our Pre-Tryout Derby Clinic we suggest that you contact our Reckless Rollers program.

Our trainers will be there to test and evaluate each participant’s skill level. If the trainer/s running the session feel that your skating ability is too low to participate or that you pose a danger to yourself or others you will be asked to gear down and not allowed to continue participating in tryouts.

While we make every effort to provide a safe environment, skating in tryouts is at your own risk. Each registrant will be required to sign a liability waiver before being allowed to participate.

Attendance at both sessions is required for league membership consideration.

No refunds will be given for missed sessions, disqualified skaters, or drop-outs.

Tryout sessions will be held at the Bay Area Derby Girl’s Headquarters located at 2635 Peralta St., Oakland, CA 94607.

Registration is $35 per skater.

SCHEDULE

Saturday, September 19, 2015

2:00-2:30pm – Registration and gear-up

2:30-4:30pm – Session 1 – minimum skating skills and safety skills evaluated

Sunday, September 20, 2015

1:30-2:00pm – Gear-up

2:00-4:00pm – Session 2 – scrimmage and partner/pack work skills evaluated

REQUIRED

You will need to have the following items to participate in the class:

1. Quad roller skates with appropriate indoor wheels

2. Safety equipment – helmet, wrist guards, elbow pads, kneepads and a mouth guard.

3. Ticket

4. Signed liability waiver

5. Water bottle, energy drinks, and any other snacks you might need to power through tryouts
